Autumn in Southeast Alaska!

Hello Everyone,

Juneau today-  we just finished the first of several trips on the National Geographic Sea Bird. The wildlife here never disappoints and our guests were interesting and fun. My happiest place has always been among the trees, and I had several walks  through cathedrals of old growth.

It’s fall in the Tongass National Forest… salmon splash and  spawn in the streams, bears are fattening for the long winter. In the ocean waters, humpback whales are feeding in preparation for their long migration to Hawaii. Low misty clouds are draped over endless dark green forest- all  inspiration for paintings to come. I’ll be home on the 20th of September and will start a series of  paintings through the late Pacific Northwest autumn…
